Role Description

The Senior Assistant Actuary – Structured Finance supports capital management functions of Structured Finance, including the design and reporting of reinsurance transactions supporting regulatory capital of insurance entities and rating agency capital of the organization.

  • Supports the development and management of tools to enhance collateral management information critical to the support of capital management reinsurance agreements, and the generation of ancillary fee income.
  • Supports group regulatory reporting, including group capital and liquidity stress testing.
  • Supports development of new deal/entity models for proposed and new transactions.
  • Completes quarterly reporting for Structured Finance transactions, including preparation of schedules and review of results.
  • Serves as substitute with respect to RGA systems used in quarterly reporting as needed.
  • Supports updating of deal/transaction models, including incorporating actual results with new projections as needed.
  • Supports statutory reporting requirements for Structured Finance captive entities and companies, including but not limited to preparation of supporting documentation for Actuarial Opinion and Memoranda.
  • Supports RGA group regulatory reporting, including assisting with the preparation and/or review of capital calculations and liquidity stress testing and with the preparation of summary reports.
  • Provides support to Corporate Modeling, Valuation and Financial Analysis, Tax, Treasury, and others as necessary to understand the impact of these transactions in their models.
  • Partners with business units and other corporate areas to review and implement valuation and reporting processes for new transactions.
  • Enhances the value of collateral management by developing and maintaining tools used to provide insights into the level and type of unencumbered assets currently and on a projected basis.
  • Performs valuation work and ad-hoc department projects as needed and called upon.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
  • 4+ Years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
  • 5+ Years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance and/or 3+ years actuarial experience in valuation and/or financial reporting preferred
  • ASA accreditation and 1+ FSA Exams
  • MAAA accreditation preferred
  • Willingness to pursue FSA accreditation preferred
  • Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), data analytics (Alteryx, PowerBI), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (MoSes, TAS, AXIS, or equivalent)
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objective
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration
  • Competent project management skills.
  • Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility and understanding.
  • Complex analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures.
  • Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of life, health, and/or annuity products preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation and financial reporting; Advanced understanding of US GAAP SFAS 60 and LDTI preferred
  • Advanced understanding of US and/or International Statutory reserving requirements preferred
  • Reinsurance industry and product knowledge preferred

Requirements

  • Compensation Range: $95,750.00 – $147,250.00 Annual Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location.
